Group Settlements, the Fair Way: Everyone Approves Before It’s Final

OweMe settles a whole group at once, works out the minimum number of payments needed, and requires everyone’s approval before anything is final.

Picture three friends after a trip: A owes B ₹500, B owes C ₹500, and C owes A ₹500. Add it up and everyone is exactly even — but almost no expense app actually notices that, so three separate, unnecessary payments happen anyway.

Debt simplification, done properly

When you settle up with a group on OweMe, it looks at every balance among the selected people and works out the smallest possible number of real payments needed to bring everyone to zero. In the example above, it correctly finds that nobody needs to pay anybody anything — the debts cancel out.

Nobody’s balance moves without their say

This is the part that matters most: a group settlement isn’t final the moment one person proposes it. Every person whose balance is affected has to approve it first. If even one person declines, nothing changes — no balance is silently zeroed out because someone else assumed it was fine.

It also catches timing problems

If someone adds a new expense while a group settlement is still waiting for approval, OweMe notices the numbers have changed and cancels the stale proposal automatically, rather than settling against outdated balances.

It works the same way whether you’re settling with one friend or fifteen — pick who’s involved, review what it actually resolves to, and everyone confirms before it’s real.
