About the split bill calculator

When to use this calculator
Use it when you are sitting at the table and want an answer before the bill gets cold. Enter the total, the number of people and the tip or taxes, and it tells you what each person pays. It is meant for quick one off splits, with no account and no sign up.
Equal is not always fair
An equal split is simple, but it is unfair when one person ordered a starter and a drink and another only had water. For those cases, divide by percentage or by the actual amount each person had. A worked example
Say the bill is 3,200 rupees with 5 percent service charge and 4 friends. The service charge is 160, the total is 3,360, and an equal split is 840 each. If one friend only had a salad worth 300 rupees, it is fairer for them to pay their own items and for the other three to split the rest.
Tips for splitting well
Decide how to split before ordering, not after. Round up to the nearest rupee for UPI so nobody sends odd paise. If one person pays upfront, record it right away so you do not need to remember it later. For anything that repeats, such as a weekly dinner, use a group so the balance carries over.
