Festive spending adds up quickly
Between gifts for family, sweets, decorations, new clothes, fireworks and a party for friends, Diwali spending is spread across many people and many shops. When several relatives or friends share the costs, the mental load of tracking it all can take some joy out of the season. OweMe keeps one clear record of who paid for what.
Plan the shared costs
Create a group for the celebration, whether it is a family gathering or a friends party. Add the pooled expenses such as the decorations, the food order and the gifts for common relatives. Split equally where it is a shared cost, or by exact amount when each person is responsible for a specific item. Tag the expenses with categories so you can see how much went on food compared with gifts.
Keep gifts a surprise
Not everything should be visible to everyone. Use your private ledger, My Hisab, for personal gifts and keep the group for the costs everyone shares. That way the group balance stays clean and the surprise stays intact.
Settle after the lights go out
Once the festival is over, check the balance, settle by UPI and close the books. If the same family does this every year, the previous year's export helps you plan a budget for the next one, because you can see exactly where the money went.
Is OweMe free?
