Create a group for your room, your batch or your project. Add the recurring items such as the monthly mess extras or the shared WiFi, and record one off expenses as they come up. Split equally for shared items, and by exact amount when people picked different things. Because friends can be added by name, you do not need everyone to install the app on day one.
